How to Be Successful in Life?

What can we do to become more successful? How can we excel in all areas of life, whether professional or personal? A vast body of literature has been written on this subject over the decades, but here are five points which I regard as being fundamental.

How to Be Succeessful in Life

1. Be Proactive

Viktor Frankl said that between stimulus and response there is a gap, and within this gap lies all our freedom. Even as he was suffering immense privations in a Nazi concentration camp, he realized that he was responsible for his thoughts and actions and was not simply a bundle of conditioned responses. Like Frankl, we should strive to be the creators of our own destiny, orchestrating our experience of life. Everything starts in the mind and ripples out, so what happens around us is a reflection of our own inner world. Whether we allow our inner world to grow wild, whether we let weeds spring up and take hold or whether we cultivate a green and pleasant garden – it is all our choice: this is what it means to be proactive.

2. Take Responsibility

Since we have the power to choose our experience, we also need to accept responsibility for this. Perhaps not that everything that comes our way is a direct result of our own thinking (though some might say it is) but what we attract into our life is, largely, a reflection of our thinking. Much of this occurs on a subconscious level, but the subconscious takes its lead from the thinking mind, so changing our thoughts will change our world, and we are responsible for this. Our behavior is a natural outcome of our mental images, and so we are responsible for our behavior too, and also for the behavior we tolerate in others. If we allow others to ride roughshod over us, then we have ourselves to blame.

3. Be a Good Leader

We cannot be effective in any area of life unless we have good leadership skills. Leadership is an art and each of us needs to find our own approach to it. Primarily, we need to understand how to lead ourselves, and this means having a compass, a direction which guides all our actions. This compass often takes the form of a personal mission statement, a document spelling out the values we live by. As we lead others, whether as parents, bosses, in families or organizations of which we are a part, we need first and foremost to lead by example, making it clear what our values are and that we live by them. Any inconsistency in our professed values and our behavior will be spotted, seen through and will ruin our effectiveness. Personal complicity and double standards are the nails in the coffin of our ability to lead. A good leader will lead quietly and subtly, from the rear, without fuss, without fanfare. In the words of the Tao Te Ching, ‘A good soldier does not inspire fear; A good fighter does not display aggression; A good conqueror does not engage in battle; A good leader does not exercise authority. This is the value of unimportance; This is how to win the cooperation of others; This to how to build the same harmony that is in nature.’

4. Don’t Let Fear Stop You

I love the movies of M Night Shyamalan. My favorite is The Village. The film is about facing the fears that haunt us and realizing that, when we do so, they disappear – nothing is as it seems. I heard once (though I can’t remember where) that the most commonly given command in the Bible is ‘do not be afraid.’ Whenever we grow, there is fear. Whenever we do something new, there is fear. Whenever we push ourselves to new heights or expand our comfort zone, there is fear. This is the nature of life. Life is always moving – either we are moving forward, growing, or we are moving back, dying. We have a choice – we can either grow or we can die. Growth and fear go hand in hand. It’s part of a package, and if we fail to embrace the whole package, we will die. Don’t fear failure – failure is inevitable and necessary. Look at the life of any successful person and you will see a litany of failure. This failure is the foundation of success, so long as we learn from it. Don’t fear other people. They are as vulnerable and as beautiful as you are – only sometimes they lash out in various ways to protect themselves. Everyone is doing their best, so be gentle on other people and don’t be scared of them. When you face your fears, they will vanish like smoke.

5. Never Stop Learning

I have come to the conclusion that learning is the fundamental activity in a successful and purposeful life. If we fail to learn, we fail to grow, and this means that we die. Life gives us endless opportunities to learn, and the more difficult the situation, the more we are likely to learn. We can learn from other people, especially difficult ones – they are like angels sent from heaven to teach us about ourselves. We can learn from the things happening around us. And most of all, we can learn by watching ourselves, seeing how we react and reflecting deeply on what moves us. These five activities, if they can become habits, will lead to success in all areas of life. They are not a quick fix, but are the foundation of a life lived well.

Kehidupan: Prinsip Orang Kaya

To clarify: Let us assume you are an online flower vendor specializing in selling fresh red roses. Create your online storefront in a way that when a visitor leaves your storefront, s/he is aware about your specialty even though he may not have seen the Red Roses section. So the next time the visitor intends to buy red roses, they will be very likely to recall your storefront.

Highlight your best product/service first in your estore.

  6. Do not let your Customers forget you:
Customer Relationship Management is of prime importance, especially when you are small and struggling to build a persistent customer base. Develop innovative ways to inform past customers about new products and the latest updates to the web store. Your chosen ECommerce solution should have provisions for incorporating various CRM campaigns. Adopt Innovative communication for communicating with your customers.

Pamper your customers to generate permanent sales in order ensure the success of your online business.

  7. Increase your Web Presence:
Make your presence felt by carrying out intelligent marketing over the Internet. Perform search engine optimization (SEO) for your site, since the majority of buyers visit websites after spotting them come in the first three or four pages of search engine results. You can either hire professional services or carry out Internet marketing by yourself.

Associate yourself with web sites providing complimentary products or services on the Internet. This helps you in increasing your web presence both for search engines and for your customers.

Intelligent marketing alone will get you customers.

  8. Build Robust Backend Operations:
Backend operations are the backbone of your online storefront. Spend time in analyzing the backend operations provided by the ECommerce software. Features such as Inventory management processing, credit card processing, reporting systems etc. will shape your first impression.

All your backend operations are expected to be accurate, scalable and provide real time data. Your choice of ECommerce solution would largely determine the strength of your backend operations.

A potential threat to your ECommerce operations is systems failure owning to faulty backend operations. Ensure the existence of a strong backend platform before opening for business.

  9. Learn Faster and Better:
To err is human, but failing to cover yourself and allowing your competitors to exploit your loopholes, is suicidal and is a major threat to E-Success.

Business is all about speed. Speed is essential in identifying and rectifying mistakes. You need to learn about your loopholes and mistakes faster than your competitors and rectify them effectively.

  10. Surprise your Customers:
Surprise your customers with frequent changes in your business offerings. Add incentives by providing surprise offers, price discounts etc.

Your estore can also help to add life to your business enterprise. Perform regular enhancements to look and feel, the display of products etc of your online storefront. Make changes that do not detract from the brand image in the minds of your customers. Make sure, as well, that the changes are not unattractive or are too frequent.

Constantly innovating while remaining focused on your business goals will lead to success in your online business.

5 Tips for Enticing Offline Customers in 2011

When it comes to enticing new customers to your website, communication and strategy is everything.

Today’s leading marketing companies are continuously developing new marketing strategies. Then they are turning around and charging a hefty fee to clients to implement them. Using this type of marketing strategy is great for large companies but can often break the bank for small businesses.

However, there are some ways to skirt around paying out large sums of money to get your in-store customers to join your online community.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when trying to attract new customers to your site. A great industry tip is to start with your offline customers first.

With that said, know who your offline customers are. Do you have a small retail store, shop, call center or physical location? The people who pass through your doors and call your toll-free or business numbers are your offline customers. The easiest way to entice these customers is at the point of sale or during any follow ups.

Follow these five tips to bring in new offline customers in the New Year:

  • Ask the customer how they found you or your location. The answers to this question will give you an idea of where your customers are coming from and where you should start   advertising more. For example this could be online ads, social networks, search engines, newspaper ads and word of mouth.
  • Gather customers email and/or social networking information on a convenient sheet of paper located at the register.
  • Offer an incentive for customers signing up for email alerts. This could be monthly coupons, discounts, etc.
  • Inform customers of the customer service and support you offer online via a website such as Facebook, twitter, etc.
  • Host a contest involving one of your products or services involving customers uploading their funniest and/or creative pictures of themselves with the product

Social networking sites are exploding across the internet and continue to be extremely popular. Offer your offline customers an incentive to “Like” you on Facebook or follow you on Twitter. Add buttons to your web page to create a direct link from your page to social networking sites. These are great ways to establish an online presence especially among your offline customers.

Setting Up an Affiliate Program – Introduction to Affiliate Programs

An affiliate program is a method that a business can use to market their products. Amazon is a perfect example of a company that successfully uses an affiliate program. They launched theirs in July 1996.

When a business uses affiliates instead of employees it removes a majority of the overhead expense associated with an employee. Affiliate arrangements greatly leverage personnel far beyond a traditional employer-employee situation.

Affiliate programs began to surface when the Internet was opened up for commercial use and webmasters needed to find an efficient way to market their products.

Commission Structures for Affiliate Programs

After a period of time, affiliate programs grew outside webmasters exclusive use when bloggers, forums and Internet marketers began to implement them.

An affiliate relationship works like a company-agent relationship where the agent refers business and is compensated by the company using a commission structure for referred sales. This type of commission structure is often times called revenue sharing when used within the affiliate program.

Businesses can prosper when using affiliates because they can set the commission structure so payments are only made after sales are made and revenue is generated.

Affiliate marketers can be compensated in a variety of ways with payment per click, payment per lead and payment per sale being the most common.

The affiliate program sales arrangement has become an important type of marketing since the advent of the Internet.

MarketingSherpa has reported an estimate of worldwide affiliate marketing for 2006 to be $6.5 billion, which shows affiliates are making a big impact in many different industries including gambling, retail, gaming and travel, along with lots of other segments.

Affiliate Marketers and How They Earn Their Sales

Affiliate marketers usually keep a very low profile, with the majority of the time remaining in the background and just acting as a middleman, so the customer does not even realize they have gone through an affiliate.

The affiliate marketer will use methods that include online marketing like search engines, websites and e-mail, plus they often use offline strategies like print advertising.

Affiliate sales can be tracked by a number of ways including browser cookies, exclusive coupon codes and sales made directly with the affiliate.

These different types of sales tracking methods are used and decided upon during the agreement process between the business and affiliate. When the number of affiliates grows, the tracking will need to be automated and consistent between all affiliates for ease of implementation.

There are issues that need to be addressed with the different type of tracking and payment of commissions. Therefore you should always research any arrangements in advance.

Often affiliates must sign non-disclosure and non-compete contracts for protection of the business.

There are protections for affiliates also with these types of arrangements which need to be agreed upon in the beginning of the business-affiliate relationship.

Multi-tier Affiliate Programs

Multi-tier programs work on a hierarchical referral system and can easily compound commissions.

This type of affiliate program structure can greatly benefit the affiliate but requires a higher degree of management on the part of the business.

If you feel that an affiliate program can increase your product sales there is a lot to be considered before implementing the program, so always do adequate research in the beginning.

How Can You Make Email Marketing Effective?

Some businesses have chosen to go the route of email marketing, much to the chagrin of some consumers.

For the most part, consumers do not like being bombarded with marketing schemes through email and usually regard such tactics as spam.

Here are ways a business can promote themselves through email without sending spam or providing emails that customers don’t want to read.

Choose the Target Audience

Yes you want to market your business and email marketing is a cost effect way to do so, but that does not mean you should send promotional emails to everyone.

Know your target audience, the people who are most likely to benefit from your product or service. Stick to sending emails to them only.

Add Value

Give the people you are emailing a reason to buy your goods and services. Put an irresistible deal in front of them.

Give them a reason why they absolutely must visit your site to check out it and buy from you. Email marketing should include benefits to the consumer.

Let the consumer know what these benefits are and make it easy for the consumer to take advantage of them.

Create an Opt-In List

Let your customers, clients and consumers make the decision on whether or not they wish to receive promotional emails from you.

A good way to get people to opt-in is by offering something they cannot resist like exclusive deals and discounts. People who opt-in are already interested in your business and what it has to offer.

Often times they just need a little push in the right direction when it comes to buying your product or paying for your services.

Track Your Results

Keep track of your promotions by evaluating what works and what doesn’t.

Stop wasting the consumer’s time, your time and money with tactics that are not working.

URL tracking is a simple and effective way to do this. Add a special code to the end of your URL link in your promotional emails.

Keep track of how many clicks you’ve gotten by checking your log files. Here is an example of what the code will look like: code. The special code can be anything.

5 Cara Promosi Produk Atau Servis Anda Di Internet

Pelajaran #1: sediakan laman “opt-in” atau “landing page”.

(4) Promosi Melalui Komen Blog

1. guna video orang lain (tak perlu pening kepala cipta video baru)

Small Bisness – Tip to start

So you’ve decided to open a small business or start marketing the one you already have. Congratulations!

Whether you are just forming your ideas or expanding existing promotional efforts to include online channels, you’re about to navigate a journey that has the potential of taking your business to the next level – fast.

Although the techniques and tools for today’s PR and marketing may seem daunting, don’t be intimidated.

Start with these 3 steps to ramp up your small business marketing efforts:

1. Create a Roadmap. Before you start almost any project, the preparation you do beforehand will be key to future success. Imagine hopping in the car for a cross-country trip without a GPS or map to guide you to your goal destination.

PR and marketing are the same. When putting together a plan, ask yourself these questions:

  • What are my objectives? Do I want more customers? Do I want to attract a different market than I currently have? Am I looking to create a stronger local presence?
Defining what you want to achieve is critical in keeping your plan focused and being able to measure success over time.
  • What is my budget?
It’s important to establish what you are willing to spend prior to creating a plan. While many PR and marketing tools are not as expensive as you think, the costs still need to be accounted for in such a way that it’s not a strain to you or the business.
In creating your budget, look for places where you might be able to save. Learning how to write a press release on your own can save you copywriting fees, for example.
Decide in advance how you want to divide your dollars. Perhaps you should consider a mix of advertising (the message you pay for and place with specific outlets, such as the Yellow Pages) and PR efforts (those which help you get the word out in multiple ways, such as news releases, special events, community tie-ins).
  • How much time am I willing to commit?
A PR and marketing effort can be as big or small as you decide. However, in an Internet landscape where content is king – you likely need to carve out time to create content, and connections online.2. Go forth, measure and refine. Now that you have a plan, it’s time to take action.

One of the more important elements of any plan is ensuring to coordinate efforts so that you stay on message and can get more bang for your buck.

In addition, it is marketing and PR best practices to test a tactic at least 3 times before determining its effectiveness. Imagine if TV networks only ran one ad for a new sitcom premiering. The likelihood that the audience saw and remembered the concept, premier day/time and what they liked about it is miniscule.

So, marketers combat this issue with frequency.

Make sure your brand is visible in as many places as your target audience is looking including:

  • Search Engines
  • Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn
  • Print Publications (Newspapers, Magazines)
  • Signage outside your building (if you are a brick and mortar)Before, during and after you launch your marketing plan, measurement is key. In order to define success, you will need to know where you started – i.e. your benchmarks. As marketing plan components deploy, watch for spikes in traffic on the site from referring sources such as search engines, press release distribution services, ads etc.

After a frequency is established, you can compare tactics and messages to see which is working the best and which need to be refined or removed from the plan.

    3. Don’t forget about local. Whether your location is critical to your business or not, making connections locally is still an important part in growing your business.

For example, when you become familiar with the news sources in your area, you can create relationships that make you the go-to-person for insight on your given area of expertise.

For a locally-driven business such as a restaurant, pet store etc., local is going to be a critical part of success as you need people within physical proximity to you to help the business grow.

However, companies that operate out of a city but serve national customers can also benefit from local connections. Don’t discount the affect you can have on referrals and even signing up local clients by attending networking events, sponsoring local charities, etc.

To let people nearby know you are there, try the following:

  • Submitting your business to Google Places
  • Use local listing services such as Yellow Pages and
  • Provide interesting tips, suggestions and secrets to local radio and news programs. For example, if you own a hardware store, offer “best bird feeding” practices highlighting products consumers can find in your store.
  • Create a blog specializing in activities and events surrounding your industry with a local flavor, i.e., if you sell surfboards, provide updated surf reports and new local competition information.

There is no limit to what you can accomplish with a well thought out and executed PR and marketing plan. Remember to be consistent in all your efforts. Maintain the same language, message and keywords in all tactics regardless of the channel. In no time you will be measuring noticeable returns on your small business marketing efforts.
